What was a patch of grass in January is now home to over 30 trees, bushes or plants, all fruiting, budding and growing with unimaginable edibles. Welcome to the New College food forest.

The food forest was inspired into reality by VP of Green Affairs Orion Morton and gardening tutorial TA Jay McWilliams, who both belong in there just as naturally as the plants.

The gardening tutorial took part in laying the foundation of the forest last semester and this Fall the tutorial is tending to it's young plants and trees. In the future, a separate tutorial may be created just for the food forest.

Black sapote, soursop, chia, native plum and several types of bananas are some of the wonders you can find in the food forest.

Each student in the gardening tutorial got at least one baby tree or plant to tuck into the ground.

The forest grows and changes all the time, aided by the dollars of the green fee which has funded $20,000 to the project so far.
