Designating different gardens in Caples

Colorful signs painted by the tutorial gardeners were posted this week to designate different gardens growing around Caples. The tutorial used bamboo to support the signs.

The perennial garden! Perennial plants have a longer lifespan, add a sustainable element to the garden and contribute to flora and fauna in the area. Perennials are often used in landscaping and guerrilla gardening. Some growing in the garden include Chia, Cranberry Hibiscus (that tasty purple thing in your Four Winds Caples' Garden salad), Passion Flower vine and Sweet Potato.

The NCF Food Forest is a gigantic, great addition to the Caples gardens. In a few years, the baby trees will be coming into maturity and New College will have a sustainable source of food. Check out the food forest intagram @ plantsofnf.

The annual bed is where each semester's class can choose what to grow and where to grow it. This where most of the veggies and edibles grow (besides the food forest). Right now, there are pumpkins, black peanuts, radishes, beans, sunflowers, greens, okra and more!

Paul Cummins holds up the brightest sign of them all: the New College academic and organic garden! All are welcome here.
Hey! Are you an art student? Do you have some kind of (eco-safe) seal or finish laying around? Come help preserve these beautiful signs!!!
