Who to thank this Thanksgiving

The New College gardening tutorial works to grow a sustainable, organic garden. Today's agriculture industry is not always so simple, or successful. Give thanks to all farmworkers- who grew your thanksgiving dinner- and, if you can, donate to Migrant Justice here.

Corn grows tall in the Caples' garden. The grain gives a balance to all the vegetables growing and is a staple ingredient in countless plates. This video is an account of the indigenous Potawatomi and Ojibwe in Michigan empowering their land by growing corn, beans, squash and other traditional crops from heirloom seeds.

It's easy to feel icky about Thanksgiving if you know a little of this country's history. But here it is, with all the food and family. If going gets tough around the table, this article provides a guide to handling that problematic cousin or friend over the holiday.

Don't forget your farmworkers this Thanksgiving. Thank them and support your local farm.
