Harvest hour

As the semester wraps up, the gardening tutorial harvests the crops they've dedicated their care to for the last few months. This week's rewards included corn and peanuts.

Black peanut has a richer taste than your average Planter's peanut and grows well in warm conditions. Look out for *boiled* peanuts at the gardening party next week!

The tutorial planted a few different kinds of corn in the beds this semester. As they grew, they cross-pollinated, making a variety unique to the Caples' garden.

Garden TA Jay McWilliams has a hereditary connection to growing food, he comes from corn farmers in Indiana. Corn was planted in the garden last semester and again this semester to provide a grain beside all the veggies for a balanced plate.
